The United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Mark Esper, US Secretary of Defence will arrive in Delhi today (26 October) to participate in the 2+2 Dialogue with India. The two Trump administration officials will engage with Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar tomorrow.

India is expected to sign the final of the three Basic Exchange of Cooperation Agreement (BECA) with America as a step towards enabling both the countries to share geospatial information on maps and satellites for strengthening defence capabilities. This will give the Indian forces a high navigation system and missiles with real-time intelligence for accurate targeting of enemies.

In this meeting that comes just a week before the US presidential elections, the closure of the agreement will give access to both the countries to share nautical and aeronautical charts. BECA also allows the sharing of classified and sensitive data, with high-tech security measures in place, to avoid the information going out anywhere else.
