The animosity between the US and China continues to rise. The United States, in particular, has targeted China and Chinese nationals on several accounts. One of the accusations is that Chinese researchers working in the US have hidden links to the Chinese military and continue to send American secrets back home. The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) said that the Chinese consulate in San Francisco is harbouring one such researcher. According to the FBI, a researcher named Tang Juan who was working in the US, lied about her military links on her visa application and further avoided getting arrested by taking refuge in the Chinese diplomatic mission in San Francisco.

The prosecution has been initiated against Tang Juan on account of visa fraud. In her visa application, she stated that she had never served the Chinese military but after the FBI investigated the case, Juan’s pictures in Chinese military cadre were found. The US is now investigating profiles of several other Chinese researchers working in the country.
