UP State Child Rights Commission Sends Notice To Priyanka Gandhi Over FB Post
Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has made allegations against a shelter home in Kanpur saying that pregnant girl inmates were HIV positive.
The Uttar Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has issued a notice to Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra regarding a Facebook post made by her. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had posted on the social networking site about a government-run Kanpur shelter home, where she alleged that some pregnant girl inmates were diagnosed with HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus). She had shared the post on June 21, wherein she had also accused the UP government of suppressing the facts on this matter.
The Uttar Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has now asked the Congress leader to issue a corrigendum for the Facebook post. The commission has also said that action will be taken against her, under the Child Protection Act (Section 13), if she does not issue the corrigendum in time. It was reported that 57 girl inmates from the Kanpur shelter home were recently found to be COVID-19 positive, among whom, five were pregnant.
