Former President of India and veteran Congressman Pranab Mukherjee passed away at the age of 84 after a prolonged illness and COVID-19.
Former President of India and veteran Congressman Pranab Mukherjee passed away on Monday (August 31) after a prolonged illness. He breathed his last at the age of 84, the previous evening. He was ill for the past several days and was admitted to the Army Hospital in Delhi. He had been in a deep state of coma owing to complications following a lifesaving surgery. The Army Hospital in Delhi cantonment where Mukherjee was undergoing treatment has issued a statement earlier on Monday saying that he was in septic shock due to a lung infection.
Recently, Pranab Mukherjee was found to be COVID-19 positive and he also underwent surgery. His son Abhijit Mukherjee tweeted the information of Mukherjee’s death. For the past several days, the doctors were monitoring him but his health was continuously deteriorating, after which he breathed his last.
