Amidst the continuing difficulties in the Brexit negotiations, Britain has put its foot down and warned the European Union (EU) that it will not blink first. The country has also told the bloc that it is not scared of a no-deal exit. The controversial Brexit finally happened on January 31 this year, but new trade deals are still to be put in place. “We came in after a government and negotiating team that had blinked and had its bluff called out at critical moments and the EU had learned not to take our word seriously,” negotiator David Frost said.

Talks will resume in London this Tuesday, but are expected to remain stalled owing to Britain’s insistence on having full autonomy over state aid and its demands regarding fishing. “We are not going to be a client state. We are not going to compromise on the fundamentals of having control over our own laws. We are not going to accept level playing field provisions that lock us into the way the EU does things,” said Frost.
