Two Dalit Girls Found Dead, Third Critical In Unnao Shocker
While the police are waiting for the post-mortem reports of the two deceased teenagers, a case of poisoning is suspected by the authorities after froth was found at the location from where the girls were recovered
In a horrific incident reported from the Baburaha village in Unnao, two minor Dalit girls were found dead, while a third girl is critical and fighting for her life in the district hospital. The police suspect this could be a case of poisoning as the victims were frothing from their mouths when they were discovered. The girls had reportedly gone to the fields to cut fodder. Villagers are being questioned by the local police as the latter wait for the post-mortem reports to come in.
Meanwhile, the tragic episode did not take time to turn into a political war with several opposition leaders criticizing the UP government. While the Congress took a jibe at Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath calling UP the state of the Time Magazine covered politician, the Samajwadi Party accused the administration of running a jungle raaj, where women and daughter have no respect.
Unnao is notorious for crimes against women and Dalits. A 23-year-old woman was burnt alive by her perpetrators in 2019 when she was on her way to attend her rape case’s hearing in Rae Bareilly. Eyewitnesses recount that the victim was engulfed in fire and she ran for over a kilometre before some help arrived. She was shifted with more than 90% burns to Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries subsequently.
