Facebook and Twitter have both removed a post shared by US President Donald Trump for breaking their rules against spreading misinformation about the Coronavirus. The post in question contained a video clip from a Fox News interview from Wednesday that featured the President urging schools to reopen, while falsely claiming that children are “almost immune from this disease.” Both Facebook and Twitter said that the post violated their rules on COVID-19 misinformation.

Facebook spokesperson, Andy Stone said, “This video includes false claims that a group is immune from COVID-19 which is a violation of our policies around harmful COVID misinformation.” As for Twitter’s response, spokesperson Trenton Kennedy said, “The @TeamTrump tweet you referenced is in violation of the Twitter Rules on COVID-19 misinformation. The account owner will be required to remove the Tweet before they can Tweet again.” The Trump campaign removed the tweet and the account has since been tweeting again.
