Twitter Accounts Of Barack Obama, Bill Gates Hacked In US Bitcoin Scam
Billionaires Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates are among many prominent US figures targetted by Twitter hackers in a Bitcoin scam.
Social media giant Twitter has been hacked in one of the most daring cyber-attacks in recent times. Some of the most prominent Twitter handles across the world, as well as in the United States, were targetted in what appears to be a Bitcoin scam. The list of hacked Twitter handles includes former US President Barack Obama, Democratic Presidential nominee Joe Biden, Tesla’s top boss Elon Musk, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, Microsoft founder Bill Gates and rapper Kanye West. The hackers attempted to solicit Bitcoins from millions of people who follow these personalities on Twitter.
The hackers posted nearly identical messages from all the hacked handles, and the tweet quoted as “I am giving back to my community due to COVID-19. All Bitcoins sent to my address will be sent back doubled. So if you send $1,000, I will send $2,000. Only doing this for the next 30 minutes. Enjoy.” Experts are saying that this is the worst attack on any social media platform in recent memory. In the short duration for which these tweets were online, the hackers received Bitcoins worth almost $100,000.
