Turkey Controversy: What Is Aamir Khan’s Philosophy On Double Standards?
The meeting between Bollywood actor Aamir Khan and Turkish First Lady was held at his request at the presidential residence in Istanbul.
Actor Aamir Khan recently met Turkey’s First Lady Emine Erdogan ahead of the filming of his upcoming movieLaal Singh Chaddha, a remake of the 1994 US comedy-drama Forrest Grump, in the country. The meeting was held on Saturday (August 15, 2020) as per Khan’s request at the presidential residence of Huber Mansion in Istanbul. The two reportedly discussed various social responsibility projects, one among which was Khan’s Water Foundation that he co-founded with his wife and filmmaker, Kiran Rao, to deliver water to drought-stricken areas in India.
According to a Turkish portal, Erdogan “congratulated him for his courageous handling of social problems in his films.” They also discussed the “similarities” in Indian and Turkish cultures. Khan faced a lot of flack from his fans on social media for meeting the Turkish First Lady on Independence Day. Part of Laal Singh Chaddha was filmed in India before the lockdown was imposed on March 25, 2020. The rest of the movie will be shot in Turkey, for which Khan is spending time in the country. Shooting for for a schedule of around 40 days is due to begin in October.
