Troubles Rise For Rape-Accused BJP MLA Mahesh Negi
Strict action to be taken if found guilty, says Uttarakhand BJP chief.
Rape-accused BJP MLA from Dehradun, Uttarakhand, Mahesh Negi arrived at the police station on Thursday to record his statement in the case after growing pressure from the authorities. Meanwhile, Uttarakhand BJP President, Bansidhar Bhagat has said that strict action will be taken against him if he’s found guilty. Negi’s wife had accused a woman of blackmailing her husband for Rs 5 crore, while the woman in question had accused the MLA of sexual exploitation.
Mahesh Negi was questioned by Dehradun Police for one hour on Thursday. “The woman has been made a part of the investigation. BJP MLA Mahesh Negi was today called as party of the preliminary investigation into the complaint,” said Station House Officer, Dilbar Singh Negi. The police said they have also collated information from the restaurants where the complainant reportedly met the wife of the MLA, before a complaint was filed.
