Alexei Navalny is fighting for his life after drinking tea rumoured to be laced with poison.
Alexei Navalny, a top critic of Vladimir Putin and his government is battling for his life in a Siberian hospital in the city of Omsk after drinking tea that his allies believe was laced with poison. The doctors treating him at the facility have not yet confirmed the diagnosis and are refusing to allow him to be moved to another better-equipped facility, according to his spokeswoman. A German air ambulance with a team specialised in treating coma patients was due to arrive for treating him, she said.
Navalny gained prominence in Russia and international media, as a critic of corruption, Russian President Vladimir Putin and his government. His spokeswoman Kira Yarmysh, wrote on social media, “The ban on transporting Navalny is an attempt on his life being carried out right now by doctors and the deceitful authorities that have authorised it.” Updates on the condition of Navalny remain scarce at the moment.
