The ten-day Ganesh Chaturthi holiday, which begins on the fourth day of the Hindu lunisolar calendar month Bhadrapada, will begin on September 10th this year. The festival, also known as Vinayaka Chaturti, commemorates Ganesh’s arrival on Earth from Kailash Parvat with his mother, Goddess Parvati.

Hosted a day before Ganesh Chaturthi, the Gowri festival is held in portions of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu and is a prominent event. Goddess Gowri, Lord Shiva’s wife and mother of Lord Ganesha and Lord Subramanya is revered throughout India for her ability to give power, courage, and valour to her devotees.
