Three Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers were killed in a terrorist attack on Thursday (29 October) in the Kulgam distict in Jammu and Kashmir. Fida Hussain Yatoo, BJP District Youth General Secretary, Umer Rashid Beigh and Umer Ramzan Hajam were in a car when the militants fired gunshots at them in the YK Pora area. While one died on the spot, the other two succumbed to their injuries soon after in the hospital. The area was cordoned off by the police to search for the attackers.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the murderous act through his tweet, praising the deceased karyakartas for their excellent work in the region. While National Conference politician Omar Abdullah expressed his condolences to the bereaved families of those killed, former J&K Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti blamed the central government policies for the death of the three youngsters.

A shadow outfit of the Lashkar-e-Taiba has claimed responsibility for this incident.

BJP has been under attack in the union territory for the past year with at least eight political workers becoming victims of terrorism in J&K.
