After Diljit Dosanjh, Ammy Virk and Honey Singh, Celebrity wrestler Dalip Singh Rana, better known as the Great Khali became the latest celebrity to support the farmers protesting against the three farm laws passed by the central government.
The popular WWE champion appealed to the public through a social media video to come forward and support the ongoing farmer protests to pressurise the Narendra Modi administration to concede to the community’s demands. Explaining on behalf of the agitating agriculturists, Khali said that the procurement agencies will buy the crops at 2 rupees and make massive profits by selling it for 200 rupees. He further stated that the so-called reforms will harm the street vendors, daily wage workers and the common man in general. According to him, it will be difficult for the government to tackle the Punjab and Haryana farmers if they do not consider revoking the decree.
Punjab is the state from where the Delhi Chalo campaigners largely originate from. Its entertainment industry has been very vocal about their dissent against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) formulated farming rules. Many singers penned down songs supporting the large-scale movement as early as September this year. While singer Jass Bajwa wrote a song saying that the ruling government has always betrayed the crop-growers, Ailaan by Kanwar Grewal warned the centre to not interfere in schooling the farmers about what to do with their own crops.
