The Age-Old Phenomenon Of Bollywood And Drugs
Many film personalities are known to take drugs, making the connection of narcotics with Bollywood an age-old phenomenon
As the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) gets deeper into the Sushant Singh Rajput probe, the ugly side of Bollywood and its endless love-hate relationship with the world of drugs has once again come to the forefront.
The use of illegal substances is nothing new for the film industry, with many top actors and actresses either succumbing to the abuse or somehow managing to salvage themselves. Superstar Sanjay Dutt admitted that he was stuck in the web of drugs for over twelve years, before he finally stopped consuming them. His father, late actor Sunil Dutt took his son to America to rehabilitate him.
According to sources, Karan Arjun actress Mamta Kulkarni also lost track of her rising career due to drug abuse.
One of the most successful film stars of yesteryear, Parveen Babi is a classic example of a great Bollywood career gone downhill, due to her substance addiction. It is believed that the heroine, who was in a relationship with married director Mahesh Bhatt, completely gave in to drugs after Bhatt left her. Many sources say that she eventually died alone, as a result of years of drug intake.
