Taiwanese Media Shares Video Of Crying PLA Soldiers Headed To Indian Border
The video has sparked a war of words between Chinese and Taiwanese media.
A video of soldiers from China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA), which shows that some of them are crying while singing a song in chorus, has gone viral. The video was apparently first shared by Taiwanese media outlets and Chinese state-controlled media was quick to react saying that the Taiwanese deliberately misinterpreted the emotional video involving the PLA soldiers. Taiwanese media is known for its pro-independence and pro-democracy stand, while China still considers the country its breakaway territory.
The video was also shared by Pakistani comedian Zaid Hamid. According to reports, the troops from the video are apparently college students who are singing a well-known Chinese military song “Green Flowers in the Army.” Chinese media outlets are claiming that the soliders were emotional because they had just bid farewell to their parents. They also alleged that Taiwanese media “tried to use all kinds of explicit hints to shape the image of the PLA fighters being ‘afraid of war’, when describing all the key information, the author used vague terms such as ‘reported’ and ‘probable’, which seemed very guilty.”
