Sudiksha Bhati Case: Two Arrested, UP Police Claims No Harassment
The girl’s family had alleged that she was harassed by bike-borne men before the accident.
The Uttar Pradesh Police has made two arrests in the Sudiksha Bhati case but has also claimed that no harassment had preceded the accident, as alleged by her family. Bhati, who was pursuing a graduation course in entrepreneurship in the US, had died after the accident that had taken place on August 10, 2020, in Bulandshahr. She was riding pillion on a motorcycle with her cousin who was a minor. Her family has claimed that the crash took place because two unidentified motorcycle-borne men were “following” her and harassing her.
During a press conference on Sunday, Senior Superintendent of Police, Santosh Kumar Singh and District Magistrate, Ravindra Kumar ruled out the harassment angle or a motorcycle stunt as the cause of death. The police say they have reached the conclusion after observing CCTV footage from eight cameras. Deepak Choudhary and Raju are the two people who have been arrested in the case. The police have said that the arrest was made because Deepak had gotten his bike modified by changing its tires, silencer and even the vehicle registration number plate.
