Mumbai court has sent actress Rhea Chakraborty to 14-days judicial custody till September 22 in connection with a drugs procurement case.

Actor Rhea Chakraborty was taken to Mumbai’s Byculla jail on Wednesday morning (September 9), a day after she was arrested on drug charges related to the Sushant Singh Rajput case. She was sent to jail for 14 days during a video hearing by a magistrate who rejected her bail on Tuesday night (September 8). The 28-year-old is expected to request a session court for bail. She spent the night at the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) office. The Byculla Jail is the only prison for women inmates in Mumbai and currently has high-profile inmates including Sheena Bora murder accused Indrani Mukerjea.

Rhea Chakraborty has been charged with organising drugs for her late boyfriend, the Bollywood actor whose shocking death on June 14 is being investigated by the CBI. There is no mention in the court papers of her using drugs. She faces charges that could lead up to 10 years in jail. Chakraborty and her brother Showik are accused of arranging drugs with the help of Rajput’s employees Samuel Miranda and Dipesh Sawant, who were allegedly in touch with drug dealers.
