Left-arm spinner Ekta Bisht on Wednesday accredited her improved fitness and bowling skills improvement session during the lockdown to her excellent performance in Women’s T20 Challenge 2020’s recent match against Supernovas. Ekta said that she worked on her bowling weakness and fitness during the lockdown. “I was in Almorah during the lockdown, and I focused on improving the small mistakes in my bowling with the help of my coach,” said Ekta Bisht.

Ekta Bisht on Velocity victory in Wednesday’s match

The third season of Women’s T20 Challenge began on Wednesday, November 4, with Supernovas and Velocity’s match. Interestingly, Velocity won by five wickets, with Sushma Verma and Sune Luss shining through the nail-biting game. Ekta Bisht, who impressed the cricket lovers with her excellent bowling skills, believed that the break was caused due to COVID-19 pandemic helped her perform better in the match. “We returned to the field after a long gap. So, it was important to win the game to boost the team’s confidence and maintain momentum. Luckily, everything went according to my plan,” said Ekta Bisht.

Ekta Bisht is a left-arm spinner who is interestingly one of the first woman cricketers from Uttarakhand to play International cricket. She hails from Almorah, a town in Uttarakhand. Interestingly, Ekta is also one of the first Indian woman cricketers to score a hat-trick in a Women’s Twenty20 International match. Ekta Bisht is playing in Velocity for the past two editions of Women’s T20 Challenge and is proving her mettle.

The third edition of the Women’s T20 Challenge 2020 started on Wednesday, November 4. The tournament, like the previous ones, will be held during the IPL playoffs. Supernovas, Velocity, and Trailblazers will play three matches between November 4-9 in Sharjah. The upcoming match will be held on Thursday, November 5, between Velocity and Trailblazers.
