Southwest Monsoon To Advance Over Delhi, Punjab and Parts of North India Around July 10

After a long hiatus, the Southwest Monsoon is again set to enter an active phase from July 8, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its weather forecast. The IMD said that the forecast models show signs of increasing rain activity from July 8 in parts of the country and would cover a major portion of North India by July 10.

New Delhi, July 6: After a long hiatus, the Southwest Monsoon is again set to enter an active phase from July 8, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its weather forecast. The IMD said that the forecast models show signs of increasing rain activity from July 8 in parts of the country and would cover a major portion of North India by July 10. “According to latest numerical weather prediction model guidance, the southwest monsoon likely to revive gradually over south peninsula including West coast and adjoining eastcentral India from July 8”, the IMD said.

Monsoon 2021 Update: Southwest Monsoon Expected To Revive This Week, To Advance Over Delhi, Punjab and Parts of North India Around July 10

Giving details about the progress of the southwest monsoon in India, the IMD forecast stated that rainfall activity would revive in parts of North India in the coming days. The IMD said that the southwest monsoon is likely to advance over some more parts of Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan and the remaining parts of West Uttar Pradesh around July 10. Monsoon 2021 Forecast: Rainfall Activity To Pick Strength Along Himalayan Foothills Leading to Increased Inflow Into Rivers in Bihar, UP, Uttarakhand.

The above weather systems are very likely to cause increased rainfall activity over northwest and central India from July 10. The IMD further informed that a low-pressure area is likely to form over Westcentral and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh-south Odisha coasts around July 11. Meanwhile, rainfall activity is set to increase over south Peninsular India during next 5 days. Isolated very heavy rainfall also likely over Coastal Karnataka and Kerala on July 8, 2021.
