The makers of Sooryavanshi, Antim, and Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui are planning for a theatrical release on Diwali. They are waiting for the Maharashtra Government to unlock the theatres
The COVID-19 pandemic has eased down everything around the world. As a result, the theatres in the country have also been locked. Many filmmakers opted for the digital release of their films during the pandemic. But now, the theatres have opened across the country with a 50 percent occupancy capacity. The producers continue to await the reopening of the film theatres in Maharashtra. It is said that an announcement on the reopening of cinema halls should come from the government officials within the coming 10 days.
Bell Bottom, Chehre, and Thalaivii which were released recently didn’t make noise. So the others are waiting to announce the release date of their films, till the further notice of the Government of Maharashtra. On Thursday, the Multiplex Association of India had a meeting with Shiv Sena officials, and a source inform a leading daily that the officials conveyed their message of reopening cinema halls from the month of November. According to the source, the Multiplex Association of India has pressured them to reopen cinema halls latest by the second week of October so that the industry can make the most out of the festive season of Diwali. They have been assured that their point of view will be put forward to Maharashtra. The exhibitors have requested the officials to reopen cinemas by October 15, if not October 1 as that would give the producers a 20-day window of promotions for a Diwali release, the source added.
Filmmaker Rohit Shetty is looking forward to releasing his much-anticipated film Sooryavanshi this Diwali. The film features Akshay Kumar and extended cameos from Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh. Katrina Kaif will be the leading lady of Rohit Shetty’s film. The makers of the film have already kept ready multiple posters with the theme of Diwali. The makers are promising to make noise at the box office. Rohit and his company are awaiting the announcement from the Maharashtra government.
Director Mahesh Manjrekar is also looking forward to releasing his film starring Salman Khan and Ayush Sharma. The team of Antim: The Final Truth is looking forward to Maharashtra Government reopening the theatres. They are planning to release the film during Diwali.
Abhishek Kapoor directed the comedy film Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui featuring Ayushmann Khurrana and Vaani Kapoor in the leading roles. The Ayushmann Khurrana film will release on Diwali only if Sooryavanshi misses out on the slot. The Diwali weekend could see a clash between Antim, and Chandigarh Kare Aashqiui.
Apart from these films, other Bollywood films like Jersey which has Shahid Kapoor in the lead, John Abraham’s actioner Satyameva Jayate 2, Bunty Aur Babli 2, Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha are all on hold for the release.
