Due to the Covid-19 situation, many theatres across the nation remain shuttered down. While many production houses are waiting for things to normalize, a few others have taken the OTT way. This has ultimately led to the digital renaissance. And now, joining this new wave is Sonam Kapoor’s upcoming film ‘Blind’. Produced by Sujoy Ghosh, this mystery drama has opted for an OTT release considering the current Covid-19 scenario.

Earlier, the makers of Blind were waiting for the theatres to function at their full volume. However, prepping for the third wave, the government is taking appropriate anticipatory measures. And this has affected the working of many businesses including the multiplex circuit. Thus, rather than waiting more, the producers and team of Blind are planning a digital release for the film. As per the recent reports, the team is happy with the final version of ‘Blind’ and is excited about the release.

Amid the foreseeable third wave, the makers are taking the OTT way. They are in talks with three major digital streaming companies and will go for the one with the ‘best offer’. While nothing is confirmed yet, an official notice will be shared with the press. With Blind releasing on OTT, it will also mark Sonam Kapoor’s digital debut.

Well, the decision of the team to go for a digital release seems to be apt considering the vague theatre business amid the Covid. Also, it goes without saying that many big projects of 2020-21 have reached the audience well albeit releasing on the OTT platforms. However, on the contrary, there are also many big-budget projects who are awaiting theatrical release.

Coming back to the film ‘Blind’, it is an official remake of a Korean thriller of the same name. Apart from Sonam, the film will also feature Vinay Pathak, Purab Kohli, and Lillete Dubey in pivotal roles.
