The story of Shoot-out at Alair is based on true events that took place after the 2007 Mecca Masjid blasts in Hyderabad. Teja plays Akhtar who has seemed to resurface after being encountered. Recently, Anand Ranga, the director of the series took to his social media and crafted a heartfelt and appreciative message for the actor, Teja Kakumanu.

He put out a tweet tagging the actor on his birthday saying “I have worked with this actor in 2012 and have been trying to work with him since. ” adding to this he later compared Teja to the legendary Japanese actor “Teja is the most outstanding actor I have worked with. He reminds me of my all-time fav Toshiro Mifune. No one else could have been Akhtar of Shoot-out at Alair.” We completely agree that Teja Kakumanu is one of the rarest people who have the acting chops to pull off a grey role like Akhtar’s.

Teja later posted a photo from Anand Ranga’s Instagram which had the same thing captioned. He seemed to have gotten a bit sentimental and replied to this by saying ” Anna at a time when I didn’t believe in myself you put your faith in me and placed your bet on me!”, adding to this heartfelt comment, he also wrote “I owe you this comeback career of mine and a lot more..thank you is a small word for the gratitude I feel towards you! This role and series is going to be huge for us..cheers to us”
