With two consecutive wins, the Shikhar Dhawan captained team has sealed the tri-match series. Chasing 276 runs, India was seven wickets down at one stage while needing 83 runs to mark the target. And that’s when all-rounder Deepak Chahar took the charge of the game. He scored an unbeaten half-century leading the Indian side to a great win.
The second ODI began with Sri Lanka winning the toss. Considering the favourable conditions, the host team opted to bat first. And they did put up a competitive total of 275 runs on the board. Leading the scoreboard, Sri Lanka’s Charith Asalanka and opener Avishka Fernando played remarkable knocks. While Fernando struck 50 from 71 balls, Asalanka scored 65 off 67 deliveries. Also, the notable cameo from Chamika Karunaratne led Sri Lanka across the par score of 270. He remained unbeaten at 44 runs.

The second innings begins with a great start for Sri Lanka as they managed to take a hold of India’s top batting order. However, Suryakumar Yadav’s half-century breathed life into the game. He reached 50 marks by playing 44 deliveries.
And yet again, the Lankan bowlers got a grip over the game by taking some crucial wickets. It was then that Deepak Chahar maturely stayed at the crease. He scored a remarkable 69 off 82 balls that led India to a perfect win. Another important highlight was Krunal Pandya’s 35 runs, making small partnerships with Chahar and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar.
Picking up two wickets and then leading the win by an unbeaten knock of 69 runs, Deepak Chahar became the player of the match. Though the Indian side has sealed the series, the third ODI will be played on Friday in Colombo.
