Going by the last few releases, Bollywood war dramas implies on the myth of action-oriented stories. Apart from this, the sensationalized drama factor adds a cliched touch to the genre. However, the upcoming war saga ‘Shershaah’ seems to be a gamechanger in the genre. Yes! The trailer of Sidharth Malhotra starrer Shershaah was released yesterday. And these first glimpses have piqued everyone’s interest. While the realism in the story is notable, the striking visuals are a perfect add-on. 

The trailer of ‘Shershaah’ opens up with lieutenant Vikram Batra (Sidharth Malhotra) joining the army unit in Srinagar. Set in the beautiful mountain ranges, the trailer gives an insight into army camps. The use of VFX is highly unnoticeable and that’s what adds more to the striking visuals. In terms of storytelling, the trailer introduces us to Vikram Batra as a character devoted to the Indian Army.

We follow Batra through different stages of life while the film primarily focuses on his courageous fight in the Kargil War. Being inspired by true events, the trailer sticks to realism in terms of drama and war sequences. And that seems to be the major highlight of the film. The first trailer cut gives us important bits from the story without revealing much.

While Sidharth Malhotra packs enough promise as Vikram Batra, actor Kiara Advani plays his love interest on screen. As seen in the trailer, the story transits from Batra’s life in the army to the happenings in his personal space which emphasizes his love life. Well, Shershaah seems to be an interesting outing from the Dharma camp and might act as a revival for Sidharth Malhotra’s career.

Directed by Vishnu Varadhan, the film is a tribute to the valour of Kargil war hero, Captain Vikram Batra.
