Satish Maneshinde’s Take On Client Kshitij Prasad’s NCB Allegations
Maneshinde said that the allegations of torture were made by Prasad over a video call with the magistrate
As the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) continues to detain new people, Satish Maneshinde , lawyer for actress Rhea Chakraborty and executive producer Kshitij Prasad, spoke to a channel exclusively yesterday. On Kshtiij’s allegations of torture by the NCB, Maneshinde said that the ex-Dharma Movies employee made this statement in front of a magistrate on video conference. The counsel also denied claims of his client’s illegal substances’ consumption and maintained that he is innocent.
On being asked if the Sushant Singh Rajput matter is being politicised, the advocate said that whether political or not, he has never seen almost 20 people being arrested for possessing negligible quantities of drugs.
He further went on to say that central agencies like the NCB, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) were formed to tackle big cases. In the case of the NCB, he stated that it previously dealt only with big international smuggling cartels and not petty cases like this one.
On Rhea’s bail, Maneshinde said that her hearing is due soon and the outcome is awaited. He cited that amendments in the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in 1989 and 2008 allows the reduction in punishment for an addict or consumer of drugs.
Last, he said that Sushant’s sisters’ case is under investigation for prescribing banned drugs to their brother through a telephonic consultation. Further, Maneshinde also revealed that the prescription is wrongly written on an OPD slip.
