‘Roohi Should Not Be Compared To Stree As It Is An Independent Film’, Says Rajkummar Rao
Actor Rajkummar Rao says that Roohi’s storyline is very different from Stree and that both films should not be compared.
Rajkummar Rao, Janhvi Kapoor and Varun Sharma starrer Roohi is a horror-comedy which released in the theatres on March 11 and has garnered mixed reviews for its storyline. Many have been comparing Rajkummar Rao’s previous blockbuster hit Stree with Roohi as they both belong to the same genre. When asked if that is fair, Rajkummar said that they both may belong to the same genre but are very different films with different storyline and characters. Rajkummar insisted everyone watch it as an independent film and enjoy the genre of horror-comedy again.

Rajkummar expressed that he is extremely happy that the movie is one of the firsts to release in theatre after the COVID-19 pandemic. He added that after the dreadful times of lockdown and pandemic, people would like to see some light-hearted content and Roohi is quite apt for that as it can be viewed along with the whole family.
When asked about his fond memories of theatre from adolescence, Rao said that he vividly remembers the time when he went to see Karan Arjun in a single-screen theatre in Gurgaon and how people were enjoying and dancing to the songs of the popular Hindi movie. Talking about his connection with the genre of horror, Rao said that he loved to act in films which added other elements to comedy. Rajkummar has done three horror movies out of which Ragini MMS was his second venture in Bollywood and he received praises for his role.
Dinesh Vijan, Producer of Roohi said that they are very positive about the reception of the movie and have received many reviews The decision of waiting for the conditions to get better and then release the movie was made because he thought the audience has shown loyal support towards all his movies and he should do the same for his audience.
