Ranveer Singh And Not Ranbir Kapoor Is Being Considered For Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Baiju Bawra

Ace director Sanjay Leela Bhansali recently finished shooting for his upcoming Alia Bhatt starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi. And now the director has quite a few projects at hand. Out of these Heera Mandi and Baiju Bawra have been creating quite a buzz lately. Ever since talks for Baiju Bawra have begun, rumours on the leads have been doing rounds. Earlier it was reported that Ranbir Kapoor has refused to be a part of this film. However, makers have now clarified that they’re considering Ranveer Singh, and not Ranbir Kapoor.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Baiju Bawra is intended to be a musical love story. And looking at Bhansali’s films, we can safely assume that it will be a grand affair. However, the film has seen its fair share of speculations right from Deepika Padukone allegedly playing Rani Roopmati to Ranbir Kapoor refusing to play the male lead. But now the rumours have been put to an end with a source close to the makers revealing that they never approached Ranbir with the film.

A source close to the film revealed to a media outlet that the only time Ranbir refused a role in a Bhansali film was when he was approached for a supporting character in Guzaarish. The makers also wondered how reports of Ranbir rejecting the film are doing rounds when it wasn’t even offered to him in the first place. The report also states that the makers are, in fact, seriously considering Ranveer Singh for the lead role.

However, nothing has been finalized yet, as Bhansali is busy casting for his next Heera Mandi. But nonetheless, if Ranveer and Bhansali’s previous partnerships are any hint, Baiju Bawra will surely be another big hit for the duo. It will also mark their fourth collaboration after Ramleela, Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat.
