Rakul Preet Singh Joins The Star Cast Of Ayushmann Khurrana’s Next ‘Doctor G’

Though the year 2020 was not so memorable for the moviegoers, 2021 has some exciting projects lined up. From biopics to thrillers, this year has many exciting projects for entertainment fans. Apart from these big-budget projects, the audience is also excited to see a  handful of fresh on-screen pairs, including John Abraham-Divya Khosla Kumar, Sara Ali Khan-Dhanush, and Rakul – Ayushmann. As Mrunal Thakur has opted out from Anubhuti Kashyap’s Doctor G, the makers have roped in Rakul Preet Singh to romance Ayushmann Khurrana. Yes! You read it right. With Doctor G, Ayushmann Khurrana and Rakul Preet Singh will mark their first on-screen collaboration.

Interestingly, on February 1, Rakul Preet Singh took to her social media handle and confirmed joining the team of Doctor G. In the announcement tweet, Rakul had written, “And finally super happy to share this with you all!! Dr Uday and Dr Fatima coming soooon #DoctorG”. Rakul will be seen portraying the character of a medical student in the film. Director Anubhuti Kashyap feels that Ayushmann and Rakul’s on-screen pairing is fresh just like characters they will play. Their chemistry and energy will be unique and refreshing for the audience.

Earlier, the makers had signed Super 30 actor Mrunal Thakur to play the female lead. However, due to her prior work commitments, she decided to walk out of it. In a joint statement, Rakul said that she was in love with the script from the time she heard it for the first time. As per Singh, the upcoming film has “an interesting concept of the medical drama”. The actor believes that the upcoming film will bring a new perspective to the audience.

Talking about the project, the Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan actor announced the project last year, in December. Produced by Junglee Pictures, Doctor G is written by Sumit Saxena, Vishal Wagh and Saurabh Bharat. The film is likely to go on floors soon. The details of the rest of the cast and release date are still under the wraps.
