Rajnath Singh To Celebrate Dussehra With LAC Troops Amidst Tensions With China
In a strong message to China amidst escalating tensions, Indian Minister of Defence Rajnath Singh will perform a Shastra Puja (Weapons Worship) on Vijayadashami on 25 October at the LAC in Sikkim
Amidst the ongoing border tensions between India and China, Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will perform a Shastra Puja (weapons worshipping ceremony) in Sikkim near the Line of Actual Control (LAC), on Dussehra. The Union Minister will travel to a high-altitude location in the north eastern state and celebrate Vijayadashami with the soldiers deployed there on Sunday, 25 October.
Singh’s trip will span over two days, during which he will visit a few border posts and interact with the country’s army personnel to boost their confidence and acknowledge their unconditional service to India.
Last year, the minister had performed a similar function in France ahead of the procurement of the Rafale Jets during his visit to the European country.
India and China have been at loggerheads with each other since June, when a violent physical fight ensued between the soldiers of the two countries following the latter’s transgression into the Indian side at Galwan in eastern Ladakh. No concrete peace solution has been reached by either governments, despite seven rounds of military and diplomatic level talks. Both the nations have deployed additional forces of at least 50,000 security personnel each on their sides of the LAC.
