President Ram Nath Kovind Accepts Harsimrat Kaur Badal’s Resignation
Cabinet Minister Narendra Singh Tomar will replace Harsimrat Kaur Badal as the Ministry of Food Processing Industries.
On Thursday, September 17, the Lok Sabha passed the Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill and the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill. These bills created a lot of hustle and bustle in the system leading to Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader and Food Processing Industries Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal resigning from her position. News reports confirm that President Ram Nath Kovind on Friday, September 18 accepted Harsimrat Kaur Badal’s resignation on PM Modi’s advice. Badal protested against the two farm sector bills stating that the bills are not in favour of the farmers and have provisions that go against the constitution as well.
According to the news reports, Cabinet Minister Narendra Singh Tomar has been assigned to take charge of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries. Tomar holds many portfolios like the Rural Development Ministry, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, and the Ministry of Panchayati Raj.
