The district of Bilaspur has around 13,000 people whose houses still remain unbuilt after many years.
The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, which is an initiative by the Indian government to provide affordable housing to poor citizens, seems to have been hit by a major scam in Chhattisgarh’s Bilaspur city. Even after many years following their enrollment, a large number of citizens are still unable to build a house for themselves. At the same time, the ruling government and the opposition are using this issue for throwing allegations at one another.
The district of Bilaspur has around 13,000 people whose houses still remain unbuilt after years. The beneficiaries of this scheme have been awaiting their next instalment under the program for the last two years. However, they haven’t been able to complete the work due to the non-arrival of the instalments. The instalments under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana are actually provided by both the Central and State governments, with the former spending 60% and the latter spending 40% of the amount.
