PM Modi Tweets On Arun Jaitley’s First Death Anniversary
Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted that he misses his friend Arun Jaitley a lot and that he diligently served India.
Former Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs of India, Arun Jaitley passed away on August 24, 2019. He was contingent of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Posthumously, he was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, the second-highest civilian award of the Republic of India. On this first death anniversary, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter in the loving memory of contribution to the nation. PM Modi tweeted, “On this day, last year, we lost Shri Arun Jaitley Ji. I miss my friend a lot.”
He added, “Arun Ji diligently served India. His wit, intellect, legal acumen and warm personality were legendary. Here is what I said during a prayer meeting in his memory.” The Ministry of Finance recounted several achievements of the former minister who heralded the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and passed away a year ago. GST subsumed 17 different taxes and 13 cesses. He had breathed his last at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi.
