PM Modi To Hold Meeting With RBI, SEBI and FM Today
Moratoriums, single-window clearance, and MSMEs to be in focus at Modi’s meeting.
As the Indian economy continues to take heavy hits due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be chairing a meeting today with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and the Finance Minister of India, Nirmala Sitharaman. Moreover, the meeting will also be attended by Commerce Minister, Piyush Goyal, and Highways Minister, Nitin Gadkari. The agenda of this meeting will likely be, moratoriums, single-window clearance, and MSMEs.
Back in May this year, the Indian Government announced a stimulus package of Rs 20 lakh crores, which was around 10 per cent of the country’s GDP. Subsequently, Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman provided details about this package in a phased manner, revealing that it’s a mix of fiscal support, monetary support, ease of doing business processes, as well as some fundamental reforms. One more such package is apparently under development from the government, seeing that the COVID-19 crisis is showing no signs of slowing down.
