Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi today asked the captain of the Indian cricket team Virat Kohli what the yo-yo test is. The PM was interacting with fitness experts and influencers from across the country to mark the one-year anniversary of the ‘Fit India Movement.’ During his interaction with Kohli, Modi asked, “I’ve heard that these days the team is going through a yo-yo test. Does the captain also have to perform the yo-yo test? Or is he spared? And what exactly is this yo-yo test? What do you have to do in it?”

Kohli then went on to explain the benefits of the yo-yo test, which is designed to gauge the fitness levels of players before they embark on crucial tours to see their preparedness. Kohli, who is currently in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the IPL, told Modi that he is always the first one to take the yo-yo test and also mentioned that if he ever fails it, he will be ineligible for selection into the Indian cricket team.
