Peace Talks Between Afghanistan Government And Taliban Fail To Give Promising Outcome
Afghan Defense Ministry alleged that even after peace talks, the Taliban forces continued to attack 18 different provinces.
After nearly two decades of war that killed more than tens of thousands people, peace talks between the Afghanistan government and the Taliban had finally opened in Qatar’s capital, Doha. However, even after peace talks, the situation didn’t seem to improve. Afghan Defense Ministry alleged that Taliban forces continued to attack 18 different provinces. On the other hand, the Taliban security forces said that as a sign of goodwill gesture, it has released 22 of the Afghan soldiers. Afghan politician who leads the High Council for National Reconciliation (HCNR), Abdullah Abdullah said that their aim is to bring peace and end the violence through a political settlement.
United States Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, described these negotiation talks as a historic time for the Afghan people. He further urged the Taliban not to support any terrorist groups or encourage any terror activities.
