King Bhadrapratap

We have seen Annu Kapoor’s versatility in his roles from movies like Ek Ruka Hua Faisla, to very recently, Suraj Pe Mangal Bhaari. This time, he has yet again taken up a role that is very new to him – of the tyrannical king of Paurashpur. The director shares a video introducing the character, with a caption that says: “When lust and desire take over, chaos reigns! King Bhadrapratap has been abusing his power believing that he is the be-all of Paurashpur but he forgets, fear is not always respect!”

Queen Meerawati

Shilpa Shinde has mostly been known for her comic roles, such as in Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hain. In Paurashpur, she is playing a character with dark motives. Wanting to emerge victorious in the kingdom’s politics, she is the first wife of the king. Shachindra Vats has shared a video introducing the character, with a caption: “Queen Meerawati’s strength and intellect are unmatchable. She is sharp, strong-headed and compassionate for her people. Will this powerful queen be able to fight the gender war and change the history of Paurashpur?”

Boris

Boris is the strongest character in the show. Being a transgender, Boris has the courage to face the king in an argument, because the rules of Paurashpur only apply to men and women – and Boris being exempted from the group, can fearlessly go against the tyrannical king. Milind Soman plays the role of Boris, and very charismatically so. The director’s introduction about Boris reads: “Boris has faced inequality in the kingdom but that makes him even more determined to change his fate and lead the ultimate revolution. What new struggles will come his way as he prepares to fight for his rights?”

The elegant and graceful Kala is trying to survive in a patriarchal society but for how long?”
