An astounding story has come forth from Delhi, where a one-month-old is receiving his mother’s milk from 1000 kilometres away every day. The baby was brought from Leh to Delhi for urgent surgery to solve a complication where both his windpipe and the food pipe were connected. However, his mother wasn’t able to travel with him for health reasons. Each day, her milk is stored in small containers and brought all the way over from Leh to Delhi on a flight.

“A mother’s milk is always better. It improves the child’s immunity levels,” said Doctor Harshvardhan, a Pediatrician at Max Hospital where the child is being treated after his surgery. Every morning, the child’s father Jikmet Wangdu waits at Delhi airport for a flight arriving from Leh. He has a friend who works at Leh Aiport who facilitates the transport of the milk with the help of airline staff. The father receives it and quickly brings it back to the hospital.
