Now Bolivia’s President Jeanine Áñez Test Positive For COVID-19
Áñez has said that she will continue to work in isolation until she recovers from the virus.
After Brazil’s President, Jair Bolsonaro was tested positive for COVID-19 the other day, the President of another South American nation, Bolivia has also contracted the disease. Jeanine Áñez, who is the interim President of Bolivia right now, has announced via Twitter that she has in fact tested positive. “I have tested positive for COVID-19. I am fine. I will work from my isolation. Together, let’s get ahead,” she wrote on Twitter along with leaving a video message.
In the video, she assured the citizens of Bolivia, which has recorded around 42,000 cases of coronavirus to date, that she is going to be in isolation for about 14 days before taking another test to see if she has recovered. After the resignation of President Evo Morales last year there were widespread protests against his regime, Jeanine Áñez had stepped up to fill in the void. She will be President until September 2020. After that, the country goes for elections.
