Prakash Jha’s Aashram featuring actors Bobby Deol, Aaditi Pohankar, Darshan Kumar, Chandan Roy Sanyal, Anupriya Goenka and Adhyayan Suman released on August 28, 2020. The teaser of the second season of Aashram released recently and seems to have disappointed netizens. Ever since, people have been pleading the government to take action against the director for the ‘Hinduphobic’ web series.
Just rubbish anything in the name of WEBSERIES, defame Hindus, why not make it on any other religion? are you afraid of them. Prakash Jha has hurt the spirit of Hindus. Defame Hindus in the name of webseries.

Several enraged netizens on Twitter wrote that Prakash Jha had portrayed a Hindu Aashram in the wrong way, which was disrespectful to the Hindu culture. A Twitter user wrote that the web series was defaming Hindus and that the filmmaker had hurt the spirit of Hindus with the web series. Another Twitter user Antika Raje also wrote that the Government did not care for majority of Hindu sentiments because movies like Mohammed The Messenger of God were banned while films like PK were allowed to release. One netizen also complained that the web series was another attempt to malign Hindu Dharm and Sanatan Culture. The hashtag #PrakashJhaAttacksHinduFaith was trending on Twitter and a netizen wrote that history witnessed that Rishi Munis were great and their ashram was a shelter to the poor and deprived. They were known to help the needy as well as the kings and this portrayal in the series was defaming.
The first season of Aashram followed the story of Baba Nirala, essayed by Bobby Deol and his followers who have blind faith in him and are ready to do anything for him. As the story progresses, it is revealed the Baba is a conman who makes sure that his devotees leave behind all kinds of ‘moh-Maya’ and stay attached to the Aashram for life. Towards the end of season 1, it was announced that Baba Nirala’s story will unfold in Season 2.
