Nepalese Celebrate Ram Mandir Stone Laying Ceremony in Ayodhya
It was only recently that Nepal PM KP Sharma Oli had claimed Lord Ram was born in Nepal.
- Visuals of jubilant Nepalese citizens celebrating the August 5 stone laying ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya have been doing the rounds. People from the country celebrated a mini Diwali of sorts after news of the commencement of the Ram Temple construction. Although, this seems to be in conflict with Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s claim. Last month, he had claimed that Lord Ram was, in fact, born in Nepal rather than India, as is written in the Valmiki Ramayana.
In June this year, the Indo-Nepal conflict was sparked up again when the Nepalese parliament approved a new map of the country, which showed the Indian territories of Limpiyadhura, Lipulekh and Kalapani being part of Nepal. After a few days, PM Oli claimed that Lord Ram belongs to Nepal and not India since the real Ayodhya is in Nepal. This claim, coupled with earlier claims about the Indian territory led to severe criticism of Oli by Indian journalists, due to which he banned Indian news channels in Nepal.
