Nepal Builds 200 New Border Outposts Along India Border
The bordering country is also building several helipads in adjoining areas.
Nepal is building 200 new border outposts (BoPs) along its border with India, according to sources. The nation already has 130 permanent BoPs but is engaged in strengthening these outposts and road networks along the border. It is being said that Nepal’s attempt to increase its BoPs comes because India’s Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) possesses 500 such outposts on its side of the border. With the addition of new BoPs, the Nepalese army wishes to come close to matching those numbers, sources said.
It has also come to light that Nepal is looking towards building several helipads in the adjoining areas of India. Lipulekh’s Garbadhar and Jhangru are two areas where helipad sites have been identified by Nepal. Moreover, one helipad is apparently being built in the Susta area of the Nepal border adjoining Bihar. Nepal’s Prime Minister, KP Sharma Oli had recently made provocative statements against India and his government even revealed a new map of the country that showed Indian areas like Kalapani, Lipulekh and Limpiyadhura as being part of Nepal.
