Amidst the protests that have erupted across the country over the controversial farm bills that were passed in both Houses of the Parliament recently, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) MP Naresh Gujral has spoken up. While speaking to a news channel, the MP said “Quite frankly, the last six years, NDA has really existed only on paper. We would hardly ever meet. And whenever we did meet, no substantive issues were ever discussed. I raised this quite a few times, even in the media. But there was hardly any response.”

SAD happened to be one of the oldest allies of the BJP and it cut ties with the ruling party only a few days ago over a disagreement on the farm bills. With the Shiva Sena out of the grand alliance and SAD out too, BJP has lost support from two strong regional parties. Moreover, there are also rumours that Chirag Paswan isn’t happy with the seat-sharing in Bihar’s upcoming Assembly elections. He had reportedly met BJP President JP Nadda recently and demanded a decision on the matter. It’s also being said that if the demands are not met, the Paswan family’s Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) will field candidates in 143 of Bihar’s 243 seats.
