After a dry spell of a few days, heavy rains are back to flood Mumbai. In fact, some areas have already experienced waterlogging following the rain that started early morning today. The city has been alerted to expect more rain in the coming days. “The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast isolated heavy showers for Mumbai and Thane region for 48 hours with Satellite and radar images indicating cloudy weather over the Maharashtra coast,” said KS Hosalikar, Deputy Director-General (Western Region), IMD.

Visuals coming in from Mumbai show that flood-like situation has already developed in some parts. The city is still having it incredibly easy if compared against the situation that’s prevalent in Assam and Bihar where flooding in several districts and villages has caused thousands of people to be displaced. New numbers reveal that more than 20 lakh people have been affected by the floods in Assam alone. Relief work and rescue operations are constantly going on in those parts of the country since the past few days.
