Mumbai Police Commissioner Meets Sharad Pawar After Kangana Episode
The NCP Chief met Param Bir Singh to understand the Kangana case and urged the Maharashtra government to look at more important issues
Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh met with Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Chief Sharad Pawar yesterday evening. This meeting happened after the hasty demolition of actress Kangana Ranaut’s Bandra office by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), on instructions from Shiv Sena.
Pawar met the police commissioner to understand deeper details of the case, in which the Simran star had criticised Mumbai police and compared the city to Pakistan occupied Kashmir. He also wanted to learn if there was any truth in the drug abuse allegations made by Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh in his complaint against the actress.
The veteran politician’s reaction to the destructive measure by the Uddhav Thackeray government came as a jolt to the authorities. According to the 79-year-old leader, the actions of the Maharashtra government, which is a joint alliance between Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress, shows them in bad light.
He further stressed that there are many more important issues for the state’s administration to work on, including the Coronavirus crisis, farmer suicides and water shortage. Pawar also met with Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray yesterday.
Meanwhile, Ranaut’s sister Rangoli visited the partially demolished site, that now has a stay order on further destruction from the court.
