Mumbai Flooded Again As Heavy Rains Lash City Since Wednesday Morning
An orange alert has been issued by IMD in Mumbai and surrounding areas.
Like during every other monsoon, Mumbai is seeing flooding in several areas in its suburbs due to the heavy rainfall that the city has been receiving since yesterday night. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has already sounded an orange alert for July 15 for Mumbai as well as Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindudurg. The situation on some streets of Mumbai is pretty difficult since water-logging has made the driving of vehicles an impossible task for the citizens.
Water-logging caused heavy traffic jams in the Kings Circle area of the city. Andheri Subway had to be closed down due to flooding, while vehicles in the Khar area were seen ploughing through knee-deep water. Several people had to also deal with water entering their houses. To make matters worse, Mumbai will be experiencing high tide till 7 p.m. today. This could lead to waves from the seas that are as high as 3 metres, according to the IMD.
