Mumbai Indians faced Rajasthan Royals in the 45th match of IPL 2020 at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Mumbai Indians suffered a huge loss by 8 wickets in the match. The table-toppers faced a desperate to win Rajasthan Royals and the result went in favour of Steve Smith’s team. After the match, Mumbai Indians’ Hardik Pandya talked about the match and praised RR’s batting. He gave the credit to Rajasthan Royals’ batsman in the post-match press conference. In the post-match conference, Hardik was asked about this rare defeat of Mumbai Indians this year. He was asked if the strategy went wrong or the execution. He then gave the credit to Rajasthan Royals’ batsman and said that sometimes one has to give credit to the opposition as well. He mentioned that Rajasthan Royals batted really well and the bowlers did not have much to do in the match. The cricketer further added that it was their skills and execution which worked for them. He was then asked about where did they went wrong in the match. Hardik shared that he can’t be sure about it and he did not attend the bowlers meeting. Talking about Rajasthan Royals he said that he thinks they were a better team today as they battled really well and it happens in the game.
He was also asked about the knocks by Sanju Samson and centurion Ben Stokes. Hardik Pandya shared that they took their chances and even luck was on their side as multiple times, inside and outside edges went for boundaries. However, he also mentioned that they also played some outstanding shots where the bowlers did not have much to do.
Mumbai Indians faced only the fourth defeat of this season against Rajasthan Royals. Hardik Pandya played an outstanding knock of unbeaten 60 runs in just 21 balls. His breathtaking knock consisted of 7 maximums and 2 fours. However, his knock was overshadowed by RR’s Ben Stokes who opened the innings for them and went on to score an unbeaten century. He scored 107 runs in just 60 balls with 14 fours and 3 sixes. He made an important partnership with Sanju Samson and made sure that his team ends up on the winning side. Rajasthan Royals were reeling at 44 for 2 when Sanju Samson came in to bat. Sanju Samson also scored an unbeaten knock of 54 runs in 31 balls.
