Mexican Women Demand Legalisation Of Abortion
Hundreds of women marched through the capital of Mexico and even charged police lines.
Latin America has been gripped with pro-abortion protests. A huge number of women have taken to the streets to mark ‘International Safe Abortion Day’ and have demanded the legalisation of abortion. According to the news reports, hundreds of women marched through the capital of Mexico and even charged police lines and threw Molotov cocktails at the Mexican officers. The women were sporting green scarves, which are the symbol of the pro-choice movement, demanded nationwide legalisation of abortion. Currently, abortion is only legal in the Mexican capital and in the southwestern state of Oaxaca.
The police had to use pepper sprays and water guns to bring the situation under control. The women protestors even asked Argentine President, Alberto Ángel Fernández, to support these campaigns as the President is also against the concept of clandestine abortions.
