Mehbooba Mufti Released After 14 Months Of Imprisonment; Vows To Fight For Restoration Of Article 370

On Tuesday, October 13, former Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti was released by the Jammu & Kashmir administration. Mufti served 14 months of preventive detention. She was put on house arrest when the Central Government passed Article 370, giving special status to the state. Right after her release, Mehbooba Mufti released an audio message in which she states that August 5, 2019 will be considered a black day in Jammu & Kashmir. She further said that most people will not forget the humiliation brought on her by the Modi government.

Mufti also asserted that these actions of the government are against the people of the Valley and so the people of Jammu & Kashmir will fight unanimously for the reversal of this decision and for settlement of the issue which has so far cost thousands of lives. She called this move undemocratic and unconstitutional.
