Maharashtra: Building Collapse In Raigad Leaves Two Dead, 25 Feared Trapped

A tragic incident took place in the Mahad region of Raigad in Maharasthra on Monday evening when a five-story building collapsed, leaving two dead. It’s feared that at least 25 people are still trapped underneath the debris, with sixty people having been rescued till now. The rescue operation at the site has been going on for more than 15 hours. Three teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and 12 teams of the fire brigade are at the spot.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to express his grief regarding the incident. He said, “Saddened by the building collapse in Mahad, Raigad in Maharashtra. My thoughts are with the families of those who lost their dear ones. I pray the injured recover soon. Local authorities and NDRF teams are at the site of the tragedy, providing all possible assistance,” he said. A case has been registered against the contractor of the building as well as its architect.
